Job Description: Bulkmatic is hiring a Shop Supervisor for our shop located in Taylor, MI. This position is responsible for all aspects of maintenance management in the assigned location. This includes the supervision of Diesel Mechanics, parts inventory, safety, cost control and compliance. The Shop Supervisor reports directly to the Regional Maintenance Manager. Job Requirements:
Primary Job Duties and Expectations:[1] Manage the day to day shop activity. - Responsible for ensuring that work schedules and workloads are assigned effectively in order to maintain uninterrupted service.
- Assures inventory is maintained effectively and accurately audited.
- Will address issues, problems and/or discrepancies.
- Will trouble shoot repairs and determine the most cost effective results for repairs and preventative maintenance are realized.
- Proactively pursues logical, safe and efficient solutions to assist in the growth and success of the operation.
Oversee site maintenance staff - Responsible for training, coaching and supervising shop mechanics and parts support.
- Participate in hiring and discipline process.
- Promotes the knowledge and effectiveness of staff members to ensure terminal practices, policies and procedures are understood and executed in compliance with customer and company standards.
Effective Communication - Works closely with Terminal Managers and Operation's Planning to ensure consistent implementation of practices and policies.
- Ensure compliance with governmental regulations, customer expectation and company standards.
- Provides feedback and input with regard to shop activity and objectives.
Oversee employee safety, satisfaction and performance. - Responsible for complying with and ensuring compliance with all safety-related requirements (including the use of required safety equipment), timely addressing and documentation of performance discrepancies and resolving and/or elevating employee concerns as appropriate.
- Operates in a manner that is consistent with safe operations and complies with safety rules.
- Will promote clean and safe working conditions.
Complete required data elements. - Generate and analyze shop data and reports to promote terminal efficiency.
- Communicate and collaborate with other company terminals and departments to ensure necessary paperwork, documents and information are processed and distributed to ensure seamless operational effectiveness.
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years experience experience in the operation and repair of tractor (class 8), and trailers (air brakes) inspection / repairs within a fleet, state, or federal (including Armed Forces) shop environment
- A minimum of 4 years of management or supervision preferred.
- Must have completed high school degree or equivalent.
- Related certifications preferred
Additional Qualifications: - Must be able to comprehend and comply with policies and instructions.
- Must have thorough working knowledge of fleet equipment.
- Must be able to complete tractor-trailer repairs
- Must have proficient computer skills with experience in maintenance management software and window-based programs (Excel)
- Must communicate effectively with other employees and vendors both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to perform basic math
- Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to move vehicles when necessary
- Must be motivated and able to work independently to complete assignments.
Physical Responsibilities:[2] - Must be able to wear and use required safety equipment.
- May be required to perform demanding physical work on occasion and/or for extended periods of time, including: walking/standing, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, climbing, etc.
- Must have manual dexterity to operate tools, controls and or equipment.
- May be required to climb trailers if necessary and be comfortable with heights.
- Must be able to perform required tasks outside in various weather conditions.
