Job Description: The Assistant Terminal Manager will assist the Terminal Manager with maintaining day to day operations of the transportation, warehouse and transloading facility at our Chicago Heights, IL rail yard. This includes, managing employees and utilizing systems data to identify trends and optimize efficient performance of all terminal staff.
This position reports directly to the Terminal Manager. The shift hours are 7 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. The Assistant Terminal Manager must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Job Requirements:
- Maintain visibility and presence in railyard, monitor loading operations and report any inconsistencies in safety and quality processes.
- Conduct a weekly terminal audit.
- Goal is a "boots on the ground" approach that increases eyes on daily activity, demonstrating proactive and engaged management.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments
- SAP and Inventory Management
- Utilize Bulkmatic's BRATS inventory management system
- Monitor specific functions are kept up and are accurate reflections of real-time performance.
- Learn all functions/roles of the 030 office
- Ability to assist during an office administrator absence
- Monitor and administer terminal level HR functions
- Maintain timekeeping and vacation time-off records
- Coordinate office administrative staff scheduling
- In collaboration with the Terminal Leader, administer coaching, disciplinary actions and complete appropriate documentation.
- Ability to complete root cause, why tree analysis and coaching process for improvement.
- Effectively train new hires, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement
- Must become knowledgeable on Bulkmatic policies, procedures and processes.
- Verify compliance with internal SoP's and Federal regulations via rigorous, regular self-auditing, formulate improvement plans for areas of non-compliance.
- Assist with customer audits
- Knowledge of customer SoP's and location of important documents.
Experience Requirements: - Minimum of 2 years of management experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office; specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong customer service skills
- Effective communication skills both verbal and in writing
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to be on-call for after hours
- Prior leadership skills required
- Must be comfortable being a various heights
